Alleged Gunman Identified

Man Accused Of Leaving Woman For Dead

UPDATED: 10:49 am CDT June 30, 2008

Omaha police say they have identified the gunman involved in a shooting that left a woman critically injured.

Sarah Schramm was shot several times near 53rd and Bauman. She was able to walk out of a wooded area and neighbors called for help.

Investigators said the alleged gunman was Jamaal Abram, and ever since the shooting he has apparently been hiding, even from his family.

"Contact with him, according to them, has been sketchy," said Jeff Shada, a member of the Metro Area Fugitive Task Force.

"If I get a tip on this, we'd get called in, I'd assemble a team. I'd assemble the rest of the task force members that I could and we would act on that tip," said Shada.

Investigators said they believe Abram allegedly wanted to kill Schramm because she was dating Abram's cousin last year when he committed suicide.

Abram supposedly thinks Schramm had something to do with that suicide.

Shada told KETV Newswatch 7's Rob McCartney that Abram should be considered dangerous.

"With something like this hanging over somebody's head, you just never know what somebody might do if confronted or put in the wrong situation, you don't know what they will try and do to continue their freedom," said Shada.

Abram is described as black, 23 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. He has a tattoo on his left arm.

Anyone who knows where Abram is should contact Crime Stoppers either by calling 444-STOP (7867) or by going online to: OmahaCrimeStoppers.net

All tipsters will remain anonymous and good information could lead to a cash reward.
