Plenty of flu vaccinations are available before the flu season starts, according to the Visiting Nurses Association.

Two forms -- a kid-friendly mist and the traditional shot -- will be offered at VNA clinics throughout the area.

Experts recommend the vaccine for children between 6 months and 18 years old and adults older than 50.

Thirty-six thousand people die annually from flu complications and thousands more get sick.

The virus affects each person from about three to seven days, though it may take two weeks for an infected person to feel like her or himself again.

The mist vaccination costs $30 and the shot costs $25.
